Not to mention squirrels, birds and feisty little girls in yellow dresses... I've recently finished a five week children's book illustration course with the Make Art that Sells team, covering character design, hand lettering, book cover design and much more. It's been an intense time, with a new deadline each week and a raft of information to read and watch. During the second-to- last week, my computer chose the worst possible time to self-implode, leaving me in the middle of an assignment. No files, no Photoshop and more than a few tears later, I somehow scrabbled my way to the finish line.
We were provided with a choice of three texts (written by author and art director Zoe Tucker). Because the course itself was such a whirlwind experience, I'm thinking of giving another one of the texts a go (quite fancy a turtle character this time), at a more leisurely pace and when my poor old computer returns back home.
